The London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is located West of London City airport a distance of 12 miles that would take around 35 minutes by taxi via the A1011 and A4. It is a central London borough with Royal borough status and has a population of 158,300 according to 2011 statistics.

The borough forms part of Londons fashionable and had already become recognised as a social hub at the time of King Henry VIII with two of his wives having taken residence there with other famous names following such as J.M.W. Turner and Henry James to Laurence Olivier and Keith Richards. It became a royal residence when William III bought the property that would become Kensington Palace in 1689 and Prince Albert contributed greatly to the concentration of Museums located there. Some well loved local favourites and events include the Nottinghill Carnival, Portabello Market, the views from Albert Bridge, Chelsea Green and the Farmers Market near the Saatchi Gallery and Knightsbridge that has everything from world famous department stores, designer boutiques, chain stores, and jewellers.

There are some wonderful examples of historical architecture throughout the borough such as The Leighton House Museum and Art Gallery known for its ornate Arab Hall (1870s), The headquarters of the National Heart and Lung Institute and Belgravia has many grand town houses still owned by the Dukes of Westminster some of which are leased to some world embassies. Some of the public open spaces include Opera Holland Park, Ranelagh Gardens and the Royal Hospital South Grounds which is used each year for the Chelsea Flower Show.
